How do you get tracked while using torrents

*DOWNLOADING TORRENT IS NOT ILLEGAL BUT DOWNLOADING COPYRIGHTED CONTENT IS ILLEGAL.

Torrent help user to transfer large files to thousands of user in a short period. Even Facebook and Twitter use Torrent to move files around.

But the majority of the people tend to use torrent for download copyright content (movies, softwares) available on public torrent site such as The Pirate Bay, KickassTorrents, etc.

Due to this, Torrenting activities are monitored in US, UK,India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and in some other countries around the world to trace people who are downloading illegal content.

Your ISP(Internet service provider) can read anything you device send over the Internet. Some also sell your web browser data to marketing companies.

Some ISP will be monitoring your traffic and then they will slow down your Internet speed (Bandwidth throttling). If they spot torrent traffic.

Fake Torrent and Using Publish Torrent Trackers

Copyright holders like MPAA, RIAA and others have teamed up with ISPs for the “Copyright Alert System,” to send DMCA notices to they customers who are downloading copyrighted material online.

This anti-piracy organization will collect the IP address of those users who is downloading copyrighted material online. They can trap torrent user by creating a fake torrent and by monitoring public torrent tracker, and those details are forwarded to the ISPs who will send a corresponding copyright alert to their customers.

Once they find your IP address (which they can do just by clicking "more info" in their torrent client), they'll find out who your ISP is and send them a letter. Your ISP then, in turn, will forward you a notice that you've been caught pirating media. Usually the first offense is just a proverbial slap on the wrist, though if you're a repeat offender it could mean having your internet service terminated. If you're very unlucky it could even mean paying a lot of money in a settlement.
Tips 1: You can check it with ipMagnet a tool which allows you to see the IP address of which your Torrent Client is sending to its peers and trackers!

Tips 2: Using Private Torrent Trackers will give less possibility to be monitored.

In the above image, you can see some IP with a country flag with it. Here it will list the IP address of those who is currently downloading and seeding the file.
Copyright holders will collect these IPs and they will be sent to the ISP(Internet service provider) who will send the corresponding copyright alert to they subscriber. And usually terminate your internet connection.

They can trap in two ways:

1. While download new movies or song from the top torrent site such as The Pirate Bay, KickassTorrents etc. you would have got a lot of Fake Torrent files.

Some of them are created by the spammer to make money and some are created by the copyright holders like MPAA, RIAA, etc. to trap torrent user and collect IPs of those who are download it.

2. Another way is if you are using publish Torrent Trackers. Using Private Torrent Trackers will give less chance to be monitored by them.

Bandwidth Throttling

Bandwidth throttling is a process of slowing down your Internet speed based on your traffic by your ISP. If they spot traffic from Torrent, Netflix etc.

In general, ISPs these days aren't so interested in what you're downloading. They leave that to the folks being stolen from. Instead, ISPs are more concerned with how much bandwidth you're sucking up, and whether that's slowing everyone else down. As such, many ISPs will throttle your connection—that is, slow it down—if they see you're using BitTorrent. They don't usually look at what you're downloading (even though they could, if they wanted to), but they will check what kind of traffic is coming from your machine. That is, they'll see how much of it is email, web browsing, video chat, online gaming, and so on. If they see any BitTorrent traffic, they'll slow it down—it doesn't matter whether you're downloading a legal Linux ISO or Batman Begins. All they care about is that you're slowing down their network.

In India and some other countries currently there is no any strict law against it .And may be many of you still downloading copyrighted content openly without any proxies or vpn . But it better to take precaution before some misfortune happens .

You can use various VPN's and proxies but be sure that your vpn provider support "zero logging" .No single trace should be left . There are many pre-build torrent clients available with may layers of proxies like a tor browser if you know eg: Tribbler . And you can use seed boxes to first download your torrent in cloud storage and than download it later directly.
In the next post i will discuss about various free vpn's and seed boxes available .so stay tuned and subscribe to email list.
